Maryland Republican Party to Co-Host “No Left Turn” Press Conference in South CarolinaANNAPOLIS – Governor Martin O’Malley will be delivering the keynote address to the South Carolina Democratic Party’s Issues Conference on Saturday, March 23rd at 11:15 am at West Ashley High School in Charleston, South Carolina. Executive Director of the Maryland Republican Party, David Ferguson, will be joining leaders from the South Carolina Republican Party and Republican members of the South Carolina Legislature to discuss the disastrous path Maryland is taking while South Carolina is fighting to make their state more attractive for job growth.
There will be a press conference at the State House in Columbia, South Carolina on Friday, March 22nd at 11:00 am. There will also be a media availability at 10:00 am at West Ashley High School in Charleston, South Carolina.
Ferguson said, “Vincent Sheheen wants to bring O’Malley-style leadership to South Carolina. Unfortunately, that would be a tough pill to swallow for hardworking Palmetto State taxpayers. If South Carolinians want 35 straight tax increases, 6,500 small businesses fleeing their borders, and out of control spending in their state capital, we’d trade Martin O’Malley for Nikki Haley in a heartbeat."
He continued, “Governor Haley and Republican leaders have been working to make South Carolina more friendly to job creators, innovators, and hardworking taxpayers. Martin O’Malley’s burdensome taxes have only silenced small business job growth and economic opportunities for Marylanders. Our state should be the Silicon Valley of the East Coast, but instead Maryland is losing the most educated work force in America to better opportunities for advancement in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Buyer beware: South Carolinians shouldn’t buy Martin O’Malley’s brand of liberal snake oil.”
The Maryland Republican Party has already been delivering a realistic picture of Maryland’s economic condition with background information to prepare Republican officials and members of the media in states where Governor O’Malley has been attacking our conservative leaders. A few of the states already visited by O’Malley in his quest for the White House are Maine, New Hampshire, Louisiana, Ohio, Florida, and Iowa. Internally, the Maryland Republican Party has referred to this as the “No Left Turn” tour and it will continue with a series of conference calls with local media, briefing books for surrogates, and press assistance for local Republican officials.
