O'Malley in the gutter
Maryland voters are used to a variety of low-level political dirty tricks: tearing down lawn signs, phony ballots, running a candidate with the same name as your opponent's and so on. But rarely do we witness a decision made at the very top to purposely deceive voters using a widespread media campaign based on complete falsehoods. But that's what Martin O'Malley just did. Virtually every facet of O'Malley's radio ad is either a gross misrepresentation or a lie.

Md. GOP accuses O'Malley of 'bullying' state employees for campaign contributions

Maryland Republican Party Chairwoman Audrey Scott on Monday accused Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) of "attempting to bully" state employees into contributing money to his reelection campaign.

Scott's charge was accompanied by a copy of a fundraising solicitation apparently sent to the state e-mail account of a state worker late last month.

A campaign solicitation from the Democratic governor has landed in the e-mail accounts of at least a couple of state employees, prompting Republicans to wonder whether it's part of a larger pattern... 

Maryland Republicans are questioning whether O'Malley is padding his mass e-mail list. In the Monday press release, Republican Chairwoman Audrey Scott calls any O'Malley e-mails to state employees "inappropriate" and said it "border(s) on workforce intimidation."

The Republican Party kicked off a series of town halls on Monday to survey the voters on what they want to see changed in Maryland.

Some States Already Implementing Health Care Overhaul
Maryland Republican Party Chairman Audrey Scott quickly denounced O'Malley for supporting the "mother of all unfunded mandates.

" With the state's budget deficit at $2.5 billion, Scott said, O'Malley should not champion a "tax and spend" agenda. "We couldn't afford this bill to begin with, but after four years of O'Malley's budget gimmicks and out of control spending, Marylanders have to be wondering what the governor is thinking," Scott, the state GOP leader, said.

Maryland GOP Whacks Cardin for Top Liberal Rating
Maryland Republican Party Chairman Audrey Scott is taking a shot at Ben Cardin after a Washington magazine rated the Baltimore Democrat as one of the most liberal members of the Senate.

"It's clear that one-party rule doesn't work and this fall Republicans intend to hold Democrats accountable both in Washington and Annapolis," Scott said in a prepared statement Monday evening. "Every day, more and more Marylanders are saying 'enough is enough.'"
