Meet Chandler Thornton, Maryland Native Running for Chairman of the College Republican National Committee
Chandler Thornton is the current Northeast Regional Vice Chair for the College Republican National Committee, the national organization for college and university students who support the Republican Party. Chandler is running to be Chairman of the CRNC for a two year term. If elected, Chandler would be in charge of a multi-million dollar budget and be the national leader for hundreds of chapters across the country. Structured as a 527 organization, the CRNC is a separate independent organization from the Republican Party. Over the past 15 years, the CRNC has become a major force in Republican politics with a robust GOTV program.
Chandler grew up in Frederick and graduated from Governor Thomas Johnson High School in 2011. He is a two-time graduate of American University, earning his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2015 and his Master of Public Administration with concentrations in Public Management and Applied Politics this past December. He was recognized on the Red Alert Politics 2016 "Thirty Under Thirty" list and was a member of the pre-election Trump Presidential Transition Team.
Chandler has a long history with the MDGOP as well. His first political internship was with the state party during the summer of 2010. He also interned for Governor Ehrlich's campaign the same year as well as Congressman Roscoe Bartlett (MD-06). He was then a Maryland General Assembly Legislative Page in the Maryland Senate during the 2011 legislative session.
We wish Chandler the best of luck in his run for Chairman! To learn more about his campaign, you can follow him on Twitter @chandlerUSA.
