Van Hollen, Delaney Vote to Bring Terrorists to US Soil

One day after the Obama Administration admitted two more terrorists released from Guantanamo Bay rejoined militant groups, Congressman Chris Van Hollen and Congressman John Delaney voted – again – to close the prison and allow these dangerous terrorists to come to US soil.

“Some of the most dangerous terrorists in the world are kept at Guantanamo Bay – including 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed. And we have proof that detainees who have been released from Guantanamo are returning to the battlefield. Yet if Van Hollen and Delaney had their way, these dangerous terrorists and killers would be brought to American soil or released. Representatives Van Hollen and Delaney are once again putting party politics and their allegiance to liberal special interest groups ahead of the safety and security of Maryland families.” Joe Cluster, MDGOP Executive Director

U.S. Confirms Two More Freed Guantanamo Inmates Rejoined Militant Groups. “In the first six months of 2016, two more militants released from the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have returned to fighting, the U.S. government said on Wednesday.” (Mark Hosenball, Reuters, 9/14/16)

At Least 12 Released Guantanamo Detainees Implicated In Attacks On Americans.“The Obama administration believes that at least 12 detainees released from the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have launched attacks against U.S. or allied forces in Afghanistan, killing about a half-dozen Americans, according to current and former U.S. officials. In March, a senior Pentagon official made a startling admission to lawmakers when he acknowledged that former Guantanamo inmates were responsible for the deaths of Americans overseas.” (Adam Goldman and Missy Ryan,The Washington Post, 6/8/16)
